Red Church Architects are specialists in custom architectural designs offering a very personal service with an emphasis on attention to detail . Our goal is to enhance the way in which people interact with the spaces they spend most of their time in. We have extensive experience with a wide variety of different projects including the conservation of historic structures.
We offer a complete design service including Planning permission, Landscape design, Fire and Disability Certification, Project management, Supervision at Construction stage and Final Certification. We also implement all elements of the building control management system (bcms), as well as grant applications and Conservation reports.

A BIT ABOUT US
Catherine O'Brien B.SC B.ARCH MRIAI Conservation accredited
Catherine O'Brien qualified from University College Dublin in 1997. She also studied at The Cooper Union in New York for one year as an undergraduate.
She commenced working with The Conservation Architect, Mr. Paul Arnold in 1997, working on such projects as Christ Church Cathedral and Leinster House. Following on from there, Catherine took up the position of design assistant to the Fashion designer Mr. John Rocha for a further 2 years, and worked on the design of the Morrison Hotel, the John Rocha interiors range as well as the design development of the stemware collection for Waterford Crystal.
Catherine continued her experience in Ireland working for a multi disciplinary Architectural practice for eight years - finally forming her own company in 2008. Catherine was selected as a lead expert witness for the design of the M20 motorway pertaining to historic demesnes and has written extensively on Protected Structures. She has over 20 years experience in Architectural design and is most passionate about the conservation of our historic building stock.

COUNTRY VILLA

Designed as a country villa to sit within the Boundaries of an immensely important Historic Demesne, this House at Tory Hill is currently under construction. The client wished to draw from an historic pallet of materials and details and the response was well received by the planning department.
ORANGERY AT RATHMINES
July 2014
The original house is a recorded protected structure. The client wished to extend the property to the rear and take advantage of its south easterly aspect and bring more light in to the house.
HISTORIC RESEARCH
2015
Fort Shannon is located on the banks of the River Shannon close to Glin. This is a very important early house and the client wished for a preliminary detailled historic study, that would trace the evolution on the site. This record will also help inform the client how to sensitively conserve the house and inform any future works / repairs.
